In a written statement made by the Russian Ministry of Defense, minutes after Erdogan’s statement, it was emphasized that Ukraine received a written guarantee that it would not use the Black Sea grain corridor against Russia for military purposes, and that “Russia has returned to the grain agreement”. The Ministry underlined that the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative was realized thanks to the mediation of Turkey and the United Nations (UN), and by this means, it is necessary to obtain the necessary written guarantees from Ukraine on November 1, 2022, that the grain corridor will not be used to conduct military operations against Russia. He said it was possible.
In the message of the ministry, it was stated that “Russian Federation believes that the guarantees received at the moment seem sufficient and continue to implement the agreement”.
