Iranian authorities accuse the journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elnaz Mohammadi of being spies who, on behalf of the CIA, incited unrest in the country.
In fact, they are imprisoned simply for doing their job – to report on Mahsa Amini’s death, for which they now face the death penalty.
Both Hamedi and Mohammadi are in the infamous Evin prison in Tehran, together with other journalists and political prisoners who have been deprived of their freedom by the regime.
