CORONAVIRUS FIGURES. 392,168 new cases of coronavirus are recorded in France today. Fewer patients in intensive care but hospitalizations still on the rise and the bar of 130,000 deaths has been exceeded. Positive cases, resuscitation, hospitalization, vaccination… Here is the report as of January 28, 2022.

The hospital tension, already high, is on the rise, but the pressure on the services of critical care decreases” according to epidemiological point of Public Health France of Thursday, January 27. France recorded more than 392,168 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The Omicron variant, predominant throughout the country, replaces the Delta variant: in week 03, the suspicion of cases of the Omicron variant was “greater than 95% in all regions, with a minimum of 97% in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and a maximum of 99% in Ile-de-France” indicates Public Health France. “Omicron continues to gain ground and we are not yet at the peak” warned Gabriel Attal, during the information point of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 26 January. The incidence rate reached 3,790 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase of 16.43% over the last 7 days. At the national level, the news hospitalizations continue to increase in S03. New admissions in critical care services remained in decline. “The filling of the hospital is not finished, 70% of intensive care beds in my hospital are occupied by Covid patients” declared Gilles Pialoux, head of the infectious diseases department at the Tenon hospital (Paris) on LCI Thursday January 27. “We have another difficult few weeksespecially in the hospital” he added. “With this variant, even more than before the number of contaminations becomes a less revealing indicator of the dangerousness and impact of the epidemic. It is therefore of course the hospital that our eyes are riveted and the Omicron wave still rages there.commented Gabriel Attal.I see things landing more towards mid-March with a gradual, very slow decline in terms of hospitalizations“, he estimated. How many French people are vaccinated against Covid?
Vaccination against Covid-19 continues to continue in France with vaccines Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen. At January 27, according to Ministry of Health, 53 905 727 people received at least one injection (i.e. 80% of total population) and 52,600,036 people now have a full immunization schedule (i.e. 78% of the total population). 34 702 407 people also received a booster dose. 19.7% of the French population is not vaccinated against Covid. As of January 25, 64.7% of those aged 18 and over had received a booster dose, 7.2% of children aged 10 to 11 had received a first dose of vaccine (2.4% for 5 to 9 year olds).
78% of the French population is fully vaccinated and 19.7% is not vaccinated (the others having a still incomplete vaccination schedule). Twice a month, the Data-gouv.fr site publishes the distribution of positive Covid cases according to the person’s vaccination. “This delay is necessary for the vaccination to be considered complete and effective (at +7 days) and for the data on the tests to be consolidated” specifies the site. These indicators reflect the number of positive RT-PCR tests per 100,000 vaccinated or unvaccinated people aged 20 and over.
How many Covid deaths in France?
Government and Public Health France sites report Covid deaths in hospitals and in social and medico-social establishments, i.e. 130,015 to January 27, 2022. Covid deaths outside these structures are not recorded in real time.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, theInsee recorded a “exceptional mortality in 2020” with almost 669,000 deaths from all causes, i.e. 56,000 more deaths than in 2019 (+9%).
According to’INED, 68,000 deaths are attributable to the Covid epidemic in 2020.
