There has been speculation about the football star’s health since he was seen with a plaster on his face in a Champions League match against Barcelona last season.
Now Neuer reveals that he suffered from skin cancer.
Together with German tennis pro Angelique Kerber, he has invested in a company that manufactures skin care products to raise the issue.
“Since we train outdoors, and are outside a lot in our free time, it is important to use sunscreen to protect ourselves,” writes Neuer.
Angelique Kerber has also had skin problems, according to NTB.
Neuer is one of the best men’s soccer goalkeepers of the last decade. His achievements include a World Cup gold with Germany in 2014 as well as ten Bundesliga and two Champions League titles with Bayern Munich.
Recently, Neuer has been stopped by a shoulder injury, but that should not prevent him from playing the World Cup in Qatar, which starts in two and a half weeks.
