Heartstopper, the film adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel of the same name, started on Netflix in April. The mixture of Coming-of-age story and RomCom turned out to be a surprise hit for the streaming service. Main actor Kit Connor, however, reports less pleasant experiences.

Connor plays the character in Heartstopper bisexual rugby player Nick Nelson, who falls in love with his classmate Charlie Spring. While the series places great emphasis on approaching the characters and their sexual orientation with great empathy, Connor has been harassed by fans in the past.

On Twitter he now speaks with a short tweet in which he outs himself as bisexual – but by no means voluntarily. On the contrary: In the social networks, some have fans put a lot of pressure on the actor. Among other things, there is the allegation of queerbaiting, which drove Connor to his forced outing.

Many colleagues already have Connor expressed their support. One of the most prominent voices is that of Oseman. “I really don’t understand how people can watch Heartstopper and then happily spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes.”writes the author of the template on Twitter.

It’s not the first time a Hollywood star has been forced out. Rebel Wilson recently shared the story of her forced outing: From the Sydney Morning Harold she got a Two-day ultimatumto share her sexual identity with the world before the newspaper does, according to Variety.

When is Heartstopper coming to Netflix?

Netflix has already ordered seasons 2 and 3 of Heartstopper. It is not yet certain when these will celebrate their premiere. However, we assume that the new episodes will appear in the first half of 2023 arrive at Netflix.
