Through his employment – where the man worked as a night watchman for seriously ill patients at the University Hospital in Uppsala – he confiscated both bank cards and codes, which were then used for private pleasures. These must have included the purchase of clothes, shoes, alcohol and visits to nightclubs and restaurants. All for a total of SEK 137,000.
Was discovered by a relative
That money had disappeared was first discovered by a relative of one of the patients. The man was suspected and confessed to the crime in the district court, which sentenced the man to probation and three months in prison for, among other things, fraud against the patients.
The sentence was later appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal, which now extended the sentence to one and a half years in prison. The protective supervision has been abolished.
