Not Superman: Henry Cavill fought for his The Witcher vision
Cavill has spoken very frequently in recent years about how important it was to him that the Netflix series was close to Sapkowski’s book. Speaking of his Season 2 prep, he said (via Hardware Zone):
i wanted that [Geralt] is closer to the books. I pushed for him to become more intellectual […] and no grumpy snowman remains. I pushed for it every day.
It is important to him to tell the story of the books without many detours and coloring, he also explained to the official The Witcher channel on YouTube. The producers and writers of the series, however, saw it very differently. At least according to a former The Witcher employee.

The Witcher insider: Netflix authors are said to have made fun of the template
A rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Netflix series was recently given by Beau DeMayo (Moon Knight), who worked on The Witcher as part of the writing team. The Direct quotes from an Instagram discussion:
I’ve worked on shows like The Witcher where the writers deliberately didn’t like the books and games. And even actively about [die Vorlagen] made fun of. A catastrophe is inevitable.
With Cavill’s exit, this catastrophe has now happened for many The Witcher fans. The star herself announced the news in an Instagram post – while remaining rather vague.

His journey as Geralt of Rivia was “filled with both monsters and adventure,” according to Henry Cavill.
As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch, in awe of the time I impersonated Geralt and euphoric at Liam’s take on him incredibly fascinating and complex man to see.
The star’s big Superman return can’t be solely responsible for this, if at all. Henry Cavill still seems to love Andrzej Sapkowski’s work and above all its main character Geralt far too much for that.
