The 2022 FIA Motorsports Olympics, in which 463 athletes from 72 countries competed in 16 disciplines, was held in Marseille, France.
This year’s Motorsports Olympics, which was held between 27-30 October, also hosted an important launch for Turkey. The Turkish national team, which was included in the competition in such a wide lane for the first time, represented our country in 8 different disciplines with 10 athletes. Ali Türkkan-Burak Erdener, who competed with the Ford Fiesta Rally4 prepared by Teknik Motorspor on behalf of ‘Team Turkey’ in the Rally4 branch, finished the race in second place and won the silver medal. National athlete Türkkan, who became the FIA European Rally Cup and FIA Balkan Rally Cup Youth and Two Wheel Drive Champion in 2021, achieved his first national success with Burak Erdener.

Orhan Avcıoğlu-Burçin Korkmaz team, who became Shell Helix Turkey Rally Champion this year in the Rally2 branch, competed with the Skoda Fabia R5 prepared by Toksport WRT. The team finished the race in fourth place. Ayhancan Güven, who struggled with the Porsche 911 GT3 prepared by Toksport WRT in the GT Sprint branch, finished the race fifth despite having problems with his vehicle due to the contact of his opponent. 12-year-old national athlete Alp Aksoy, who took the wheel in the Karting Sprint Junior branch, in which 31 athletes took part, finished the final race in eighth place, leaving behind his experienced rivals.

14-year-old Can Alakoç, who successfully competed against his experienced rivals with the vehicles they used for the first time in the Cross Car branch, placed tenth in the junior category and Kerem Kazaz, 17, in the Senior category. Ulaş Özyıldırım, who represents our country in the esports branch with 57 athletes, reached the finals and finished the race in the seventeenth place, despite falling to the last place in the semi-finals due to his opponent’s theme. Timur Pomak, our representative in the drift branch, was eliminated in the qualifying rounds.
