Several users of the image platform Instagram have reported problems and the company announced on Monday that it is “working on the issue”, reports the AP news agency. Among other things, Instagram users have reported receiving notifications that they have been banned from the social media platform, but were still able to scroll through their photo feeds.
Others have reported via Twitter that they have been banned from Instagram entirely, and a further number of users have reported suddenly losing followers – presumably because their accounts were closed.
It is unclear whether this is an internal problem at Instagram, or whether the image platform has been hacked.
Instagram is owned together with Facebook by the company Meta.
