While the number of people who lost their lives increased to 105 in the Philippines, search and rescue efforts continue for 63 people.
While 53 people lost their lives in Maguindanao caused by landslides and floods. Naguib Sinarimbo, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, where Muslims live heavily, stated that the number of casualties announced does not reflect the truth. Sinarimbo said that the people who were trapped under the rubble in the Kusiong village of Maguindanao and still cannot be reached, could not file a missing person report because all their family members died in the collapse.
APPROXIMATELY 1 MILLION PEOPLE LEFT THEIR HOME
Nearly 1.9 million people in the country were affected by Typhoon Nalgae, including more than 975,000 villagers who took refuge in evacuation centers and their relatives’ homes.
Authorities said at least 4,100 homes and nearly 40,000 acres of rice and other crops were damaged by flooding. While it was stated that the size of the material damage was approximately 13 million dollars, it was learned that at least 7.5 million dollars of material damage was recorded in agricultural lands.
