Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Speaker of the US House of Representatives, spoke out on Saturday after the attack on her husband Paul Pelosi on Friday.
“Our children, our grandchildren and I are heartbroken and traumatized by the life-threatening attack on our father,” Pelosi wrote about the incident in a post on Twitter.
It was early Friday morning, local time, that a man entered the Pelosi home in San Francisco and beat Paul Pelosi with a hammer.
The husband underwent surgery after the attack, he is said to have suffered head injuries, among other things, and is said to be recovering in hospital.
The intruder, a 42-year-old man, is said to have been after Nancy Pelosi.
