KARAT Association President Prof. Dr. Ayhan Bilgici, at the opening of the symposium held in a hotel in Samsun, said that they established their association to create a social and scientific sharing platform among physicians working in their fields.
Stating that they aim to carry their branches forward strongly, Bilgici said, “Giving the same subspecialties to different branches in recent years has brought some problems and competition. The physical therapy community is a strong and large community. It is our duty and responsibility to bring them to an effective and competent position, to show solidarity for this. We are a clinical branch whose specialization education is on musculoskeletal diseases. Therefore, it is an indisputable fact that rheumatology and algology are our main field. We must continue to work on this subject without compromise and continue on our way. We must first believe that we are the best, that we are on the right path so that we can convince others.” used the phrase.
Pointing out that traditional and complementary medicine (GETAT) practice has gained popularity in recent years, Bilgici continued:
“Another topic of discussion is the professional deformation created by the GETAT applications, which have gained popularity in recent years, in our branch. It is undeniable that GETAT applications are a social, current and political reality, but we should not forget that we are medical doctors after undergoing long trainings, we should not deviate from scientific reality and unethical ways. By expanding our branch, “It is our responsibility to our colleagues who come after us. We can achieve this by staying away from internal conflicts and displaying solidarity. Together, we will be stronger.”
Bilgici added that the current perspective on the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of rheumatic diseases, which have been very common in recent years, with cases, osteoporosis (bone loss) and osteoarthritis (calcification) treatment approaches, medical and interventional approaches in acute and chronic pain will be discussed.
