After six years of not winning, a group of 16 co-workers from Tigercat Industries in Woodstock is celebrating a $96,764.70 second prize in the Sept. 9 Lotto Max draw.
“A few days prior to buying the ticket, some of the members of the group talked about not playing as a group anymore since we’ve had no luck,” Scott Harris, of Waterford, said during a visit to the OLG Prize Center in Toronto to pick up the winnings.
“I checked the ticket using the OLG app (on his phone) and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
He said he got another member of the group, Jeffrey Oulton of Brantford, to scan the ticket with his OLG app.
When they told the rest of the group at work, it got loud.
“It was unbelievable,” said Oulton.
Other members of the group are: Blayne Partridge, Derek Kudirka, Derek Ouellette, Dwayne Ellis, Mark Tyler, Matthew Hoo, Shayden Kusch and Mike Woodburn, all of Brantford; Bradley Dorschner, Burford; Brian Forbes, Scotland; Michael Soluk, Vanessa; Kevin Terrade, Woodstock; Andrew Freiter, Cambridge; and Timothy Stronks, Guelph.
The winning ticket was purchased at Euro Convenience on Charing Cross Street in Brantford. Split evenly, the prize means each member of the group will get $6,110.
Some group members plan to go on a cruise, while others will be completing home renovations and doing some Christmas shopping.
