Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that in order for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resolve the problems with Azerbaijan, he should immediately sit down and take a decision with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Lukashenko delivered a speech at the extraordinary online meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council.
“IF YOU DON’T MAKE A DECISION TODAY, THEN IT WILL BE WORST”
Lukashenko replied to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who asked “the position and assessment of the CSTO” on the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict:
“You want us to determine our position. Don’t you know our position? We want a peaceful resolution of conflicts between neighboring states. You are asking for a road map to re-establish the territorial integrity of Armenia. Which roadmap? I answer, sit down with (Azerbaijan President) Ilham Aliyev, If necessary, ask the President of Russia and decide. If you don’t take a decision today, it will be worse later. You understand it yourself. We don’t need this conflict. These questions are more than weird, Nikol.”
Reminding that they will meet in Yerevan next month as CSTO leaders, Lukashenko suggested that the situation be re-analyzed after the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia met on 31 October.
‘KGAÖ AND AZERBAIJAN CANNOT FACE’ MESSAGE
Noting that the situation is not a matter of “CSTO on one side and Azerbaijan on the other,” Lukashenko reminded that the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, of which Azerbaijan is a member, are also CSTO members.
Lukashenko said, “We have very close ties with Orthodox Armenia. We have very close relations with Muslim Azerbaijan. This is a particularly sensitive issue for other CSTO member states, including Russia, where 30 million Muslims live. So all the nuances must be taken into account.” he said.
For all these reasons, Armenia’s question of “Is the CSTO with us or not?” Expressing that it would not be possible to raise a question as such, Lukashenko emphasized that Aliyev is currently ruling Azerbaijan, so the problems Pashinyan voiced can now be resolved.
ATTENTION ‘TURKEY’ EXPLANATION
Lukashenko said, “They say Turkey stands behind Azerbaijan. What happened? This is a policy. Turks support Azerbaijan, because they are close and brothers. Russia also supports Belarus, Belarus also supports Russia. Because we are close and we are brothers. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the problem between Azerbaijan and Armenia now.” used the phrase. (AA)
