Pensioners Larisa and Viktor lived for eight months in the middle of the war zone in Kherson under constant Russian shell fire. Now their village, Novomy-kolaivka, has been liberated during the ongoing Ukrainian counter-offensive.

An unexploded Russian rocket that has burrowed into the field outside the house is a reminder that the war is not over.

– We wish to be able to live as before, and peace for everyone. Let the people of the world unite, says farmer Larisa to TV4 Nyheterna.

The retired couple lived for several months without electricity, no running water and constant shell fire, but the worst part was not being able to see the grandchildren, says Larissa.

– I have longed so much for the grandchildren and the family, she says.
