Brantford police seek publics help to find discarded items in

Brantford police on Tuesday are asking residents to contact them if they find items associated to a recent homicide investigation.

On Saturday afternoon, police said 20-year-old Nicholas Craig was arrested “based on a tip from an alert citizen.”

Earlier Saturday, police put out an alert to the public to say they were searching for Craig and that he was wanted to for second-degree murder in connection to a fatal stabbing.

In the release, police said that, at about 9:30 am on Saturday, officers responded to a call in the area of ​​Cayuga and Superior streets where a male victim had been stabbed. The victim was transported to hospital but died despite “life-saving efforts,” police said.

Police said Craig and the victim were known to each other.

Craig was arrested in the area of ​​Park Road and Chatham Street, police said. They believe he may have walked along the Shallow Creek and Glebe Farm trail areas.

Police said they believe that items were discarded along the way that have yet to be found.

They are:

• A dark-coloured coat, with a hood and a camouflage-style pattern on the rear;

• A light-coloured checkered, zippered sweatshirt with a hood;

• A black baseball hat / beanie style headwear.

Police are asking nearby residents to check their properties and contact them if they find any of the discarded items.
