Sergio Agüero is one of Manchester City’s biggest ever stars. Only with Pep Guardiola as coach did the Argentine manage to win the Premier League three times, the English League Cup four times and the FA Cup once.
Now, however, Agüero tells us that everything was not just a bed of roses under the Spanish head coach.
“If your ideal weight was 79-80 kilos and you weighed 80.1, you were not allowed to play and were fined,” he says.
Agüero played under Guardiola from 2016-2021 before moving to Barcelona before retiring due to heart problems.
— Our first season he said to me: I benched you because you are too fat this week, says Agüero.
— It goes very quickly. Just one small chicken and you are already 50 grams over the limit.
Sergio Agüero scored 184 goals in 275 Premier League games and Manchester City have erected a statue of him outside their home ground, the Etihad Stadium.
