THE SOLAR eclipse has STARTED! CAN BE WATCHED FROM TURKEY
The first solar eclipse of this year took place on April 30.
The last solar eclipse of the year is happening as of now.
The solar eclipse started towards 13 o’clock.
The solar eclipse, which will last until 3 p.m., is expected to reach its maximum phase at 13.50.
HERE ARE THE TIMES WHERE THE eclipse can be seen
TÜBİTAK also shared the time periods and provinces where the solar eclipse can be seen in Turkey. Here is that list:
“NEVER LOOK AT THE BARE EYES”
Astrophysicist Assoc. Dr. Topal warned that you should never look at the sun without special protection, such as sooty glass, sunglasses, x-ray film or with the naked eye, during a solar eclipse. Underlining that special filters should be used to observe the sun during solar eclipses or other solar events, Topal said that filters are of great importance for eye health.
THE MOON COVERS THE SUN
As the Moon moves between the Sun and our planet during its movement around the Earth, it rarely blocks the Sun’s light and a Solar Eclipse occurs.
In other words, the Moon’s shadow falls on the Earth’s surface.
There are also different types of Solar Eclipses, and eclipses differ according to how much shadow of the Moon will fall on Earth.
SCHOOLS HOLIDAY IN IRAQ
A public holiday was declared in many cities of Iraq due to the solar eclipse. After the Mosul Governorate declared a public holiday, a similar decision came from the Anbar Governorate. It was announced that there was a public holiday in the afternoon in the cities of Vasıt and Meysan in the south of the country.
Schools were suspended in the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG). In the statement made by the Ministry of Education of the KRG, it was stated that in line with the instructions of the relevant authorities, a public holiday was declared in the schools that operate in the afternoon in the region.
