The heads of state and government who will participate in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which will be held in Beijing, the capital of China, for which the United States has decided to boycott diplomatically, are becoming clear. It has been announced that Chinese leader Xi Jinping will participate in the games as the host, and the official schedule has been announced. The statement was made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The US administration announced a while ago that it would not participate diplomatically in the Winter Olympic Games due to human rights violations against Muslim minority groups in China’s Uyghur autonomous region.
Following the USA, some countries, including Australia, similarly declared that they would not participate in their games diplomatically. However, athletes from all countries, including the USA, will compete in the games. China criticized the US decision to boycott diplomatically and announced that it would retaliate.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will be among the names that will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic games.
The 2022 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, China, will kick off with the official opening ceremony on February 4.
