He is no longer really the “young prodigy” of French cinema, but at 33, Pierre Niney has already reached heights in the 7th art, with around thirty films, a passage through the Comédie Française and a César. The actor, in the casting of Nicolas Bedos’ latest film, Masquerade, is this Sunday the guest of the show Sept à Huit on TF1. The opportunity to confide in Anne Crespo-Mara in an intimate interview about her temperament, her life choices, but also her family.
In this interview, Pierre Niney comes back in particular to his approach to acting in cinema, his “crucial need to mark the film with what we do, a sanctification of this thing”, which made him “rehash the night” and “redoing the scene in his room so late that it no longer makes sense”. “It was sickly, it’s good that I let go”, he confides, evoking a “serenity encountered recently”. The arrival of her two daughters contributed a lot to this, like her move “into a living space closer to nature”.
For fifteen years, Pierre Niney shares his life with the Australian actress and model Natasha Andrews. A jack of all trades who also practices photography, with a report to her credit in Palestine in 2013. Now based in Europe (she was living in London in 2008 when she met Pierre Niney), Natasha Andrews grew up near Brisbane.
Leaving Australia at the age of 18 for Paris, Natasha Andrews studied at the Sorbonne before joining the prestigious Cours Florent, where she also met the actor. We could notably see her in Magic in the Moonlight by Woody Allen in 2014 or even Le Grand jeu in 2015.
More recently, she lent her voice to Tiffany Fluffit, a character in the animated film The Bad Guys. We also saw her in the role of Sandy, in the comedy I love what you do by Philippe Guillard, last spring.
In a relationship since 2008, Pierre Niney and Natasha Andrews had two children, two daughters. Lola is now 5 years old and Billie 3 years old. The actress has already been able to speak about this family life, where parents and children seem inseparable, despite the busy schedule of the first. “Each family is built in its own way. We live in our own way and we are very happy”, she assured after confiding that she and Pierre Niney took “the kids” everywhere with them.
Pierre Niney is a French actor born on March 13, 1989. He came to comedy through theater at the age of 11. Demonstrating a very precocious talent, he studied at the Claude-Monet high school and obtained a baccalaureate in literature with a theater option. He joined the Pandora company directed by Brigitte Jacques-Wajemen and François Regnault, and continued his training as an actor. The Cours Florent and the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art will follow. On October 16, 2010, at the age of 21, he became the youngest resident of the Comédie-Française troupe. He is seen in shorts and TV movies, and he appears in several films. In 2007, he had a small role in the film Nos 18 ans, a comedy by Frédéric Berthe. It is noticed in LOL by Lisa Azuelos. Twice, in 2009 for L’Armée du crime then in 2010 for Les Neiges du Kilimanjaro, Robert Guédiguian gave him a role.
The following year, he was alongside Isabelle Carré and Benoît Poelvoorde in Les Émotifs anonymes by Jean-Pierre Améris. He owes Frédéric Louf his first major role in 2012 in I like watching girls. He won the prize for male revelation at the Cabourg festival for his performance, which also earned him a Caesar nomination as best hope.
We find Pierre Niney surrounded by François-Xavier Demaison and Nicolas Duvauchelle in the road-movie comedy Comme des frères by Hugo Gélin, where he is again nominated for the César for best male hope. Young actor, Pierre Niney is already on the front of the stage. In 2013, in 20 years apart, he embodies Balthazar alongside Virginie Efira who makes him lose his head. In 2014, it metamorphosed into Yves Saint Laurent in Jalil Lespert’s biopic. A role that allowed him to win the César for Best Actor in early 2015 and to become the youngest César-winning actor in history. He will soon be starring in the film An Ideal Man alongside Ana Girardot. He still appears in recent years in many other films, including The Promise of Dawn in 2017, Save or Perish in 2018, OSS 117 or Black Box in 2021.
