FANTASTIC BEASTS. Although Eddie Redmayne is excellent in the role of Newt Scamander alias Norbert Dragonneau, know that a completely different actor could have played the main role of Fantastic Beasts and that could have changed everything for the films as for the series House of the Dragon !

[Mis à jour le 23 octobre 2022 à 20h30] Many years ago, when Warner Bros. was preparing the filming of the Fantastic Beasts saga, spin-off of Harry Potter, many names jostled to play the main role of Newt Scamander (better known in France under the name of Norbert Scamander). Indeed, embodying the face of this new saga was a guarantee of a perfect global exposure to explode a career with the general public. If the role finally fell to Eddie Redmayne (Danish Girl), several other names were mentioned.
We think for example of Nicholas Hoult, known for his roles in X-Men First Class or Mad Max Fury Road, which was once considered a lead for casting directors. Rumors have also lent great interest to Matt Smith (The Crown, Dr Who) for the role of Norbert Scamander in Fantastic Beasts. The British actor, fresh out of the role of the Eleventh Doctor in Dr Who, was indeed in high demand at that time. The information has never really been formalized by the actor himself but if he had actually obtained the role, it would be a safe bet that he would never have been available to play the role of Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon, which began broadcasting at the end of August 2022!
