Ott Tanak will leave Hyundai after the current season

Ott Tänak has announced that he will leave Hyundai after the current season. An Estonian driver driving in the World Rally Championship tells about it On their Twitter account (you will switch to another service).

– This is a personal decision that I have made with careful consideration and respect for the team. However, I feel that I am at a stage in my career where I have to take on a new challenge, says Tänak.

During the season, things have been bubbling under the surface and there has been speculation about Tänak’s departure. The past season has been very difficult for the Estonian and he has often commented on the performance of his car in a negative tone, among other things.

Tänak moved to Hyundai in 2019 after winning the world championship. In May 2021, he signed a multi-year contract extension with Hyundai, which will expire with Tänak’s decision to leave.

Tänak, 35, will be seen behind the wheel of Hyundai in the last race of the season in Japan in November. The Estonian driver’s address for next year is not yet clear. Judging by Tänak’s words, however, he is not ending his career yet.
