Released in 2007, Transformers marked Megan Fox’s breakthrough into Hollywood. While her fellow actor Shia LaBeouf was allowed to save the world in the gigantic robot battle, Fox was mostly staged sexually. Two years later, she tried to fight back with the idiosyncratic Jennifer’s Body.
At first glance, the bloodthirsty horror comedy resembles a series of clichés. However, Destroyer director Karyn Kusama has created a film that is adept at reflecting its genre and Fox’s image as a sex symbol questioned. Based on the reactions at the time, the world wasn’t ready for it.
Megan Fox is hiding a dark secret inside Jennifer’s body
Although Jennifer (Megan Fox) and Needy (Amanda Seyfried) have little in common, they are best friends. They have known each other since childhood. Nevertheless, they have each other developed in different directions. While Needy prefers to immerse herself in her books, Jennifer sets the tone as a cheerleader in the schoolyard.

When an indie rock band is hosting a concert near her, Jennifer approaches the lead singer. Nikolai (Adam Brody) goes into flirting, but it’s not just about sex. Together with his bandmates he plans the supposed sacrificing a virgin to the devil. He has no idea of the dark power that slumbers in Jennifer.
A revealing horror film: Jennifer’s Body starring Megan Fox
Jennifer’s Body is a wild foray into the world of teen slashers. Blood flows freely and bodies are destroyed. Along with this, Kusama deals with the question what characterizes these bodies. How are they usually staged in the genre? And what can be deduced from this about the characters and their world?
Then there’s the cast, which takes the film to the beta level: where Fox spent years roasting in typecasting hell and reduced to her looks, Kusama narrates one uncompromising self-empowerment story. Jennifer’s Body is a revealing film that ultimately doesn’t care if it lives up to expectations.
