According to Ukraine, Russia launched missile attacks on power plants again this morning. The attacks have caused power outages in various parts of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force says Russia fired 33 missiles, of which the Air Force says it intercepted 18 missiles. Some of the missiles were shot down near the capital, Kyiv. The missile strikes were made after eleven o’clock.

According to Ukraine’s national electricity company Ukrenergo, the attacks mainly targeted the distribution network in the western part of the country.

Repair work is underway, but due to the attacks, electricity distribution has been limited in ten areas throughout the country, including Kyiv, Kharkiv and Sumy.

Electricity has been cut off for hundreds of thousands of people in the western and southern parts of Ukraine.

In certain areas, the use of electricity is limited by a fifth. The authorities have appealed to people to save electricity.

Attacks on power plants have been reported by regional leaders in the western regions of Rivne, Khemlnytskyi and Volyn.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, Russia also carried out attacks on power plants in the southern Odessa region and in the Kirovohrad region in the central part of the country.

According to Ukrenergo, the attacks have caused similar or greater damage to energy distribution than Russia’s 10.-12. the attacks of October. On October 10, Russia fired more than 80 missiles into Ukraine.

President Zelenskyi has demanded Western countries to warn Russia not to blow up the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant in the Kherson region. Zelenskyi said that Russia had previously mined a power plant along the Dnieper River.

Blowing up the dam would cause great destruction in the southern part of Ukraine.
