Georges-Alain: but where did the unforgettable Star Academy candidate go?

Georges Alain but where did the unforgettable Star Academy candidate go

GEORGE-ALAIN JONES. While Star Academy is back on TF1, 21 years after its first season, one question remains: but what has become of the former troublemaker from Dammarie-les-Lys?

If there’s one memory we keep from the original Star Academy, it’s Georges-Alain’s performance on Asereje, the hit of the Spanish trio Las Ketchup. An unforgettable sequence, which reminds us that the beginnings of TF1 telecrochet had the charm of imperfection. While the Star Ac ‘made a comeback with great fanfare, Saturday, October 15, the students of this promotion 2022 already seem much more professional than the “old”, like precisely the troublemaker of the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys.

Several of them have already (a lot) sung, danced, even worked in the artistic world, some already having a career in music or musical comedy. This was not the case for many candidates of the Star Academy, older generation. Including Georges-Alain, who nevertheless did not fail to offer viewers of the show moments of emotion, as when he resumed Diegothe song by Johnny Hallyday.

But since his time at Star Academy, Georges-Alain has disappeared. Including during the twenty years of telecrochet presented by Nikos, in 2021. On the set of the show, broadcast on TF1, Jean-Pascal, Jennifer, Mario, Patrice, Jérémy or Maud… But no Georges-Alain. It is said that the turbulent former student would be boycotted by the production since his statements to the Parisian in 2020: “Now, I can admit it, everything was rigged! I had discovered that it was me and Emma Daumas who had to go to the final. It was decided even before the show.”

What has become of Georges-Alain?

Born September 30, 1975 in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the Alpes-Maritimes, Georges-Alain joined season 2 of TF1’s musical telecrochet in 2002. After his remarkable stint in Star Ac’, he tried to break into music and released an album, New Jersey, in 2005. The “bad-boy” of season 2 of telecrochet finally converted into sports commentary on television.

Georges-Alain comments on Turkish football matches on Canal International, a channel of the Canal+ group for French-speakers abroad, as well as ski cross, snowboarding and mogul skiing competitions on the L’Équipe channel, reported Le Parisien in 2020. But he has not given up on music: Georges-Alain is working on an album.

In 2022, he also published a cover of the tube Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers, originally released in 1971. A single that succeeds another previously released, called When Doves Cry. We find there the particular tone of voice of the former student of the Star Academy, which has not changed much in twenty years. Damn nostalgia.
