Real name Michael Benjamin, singer Mikaben died at the end of a concert given at the Accor Arena in Paris on Saturday evening. He was 41 years old.

The singer, composer and producer Mikaben or Michael Benjamin, died at the age of 41 on Saturday evening October 15, on the stage of the Accor Arena in Paris. He suffered a cardiac arrest while performing with the Haitian music group Carimi, six years after its disbandment.

    Concert interrupted

While he was on stage, the singer suddenly collapsed and the concert was immediately interrupted, around 11 p.m. The room was then evacuated while the emergency services intervened.

Unfortunately, the latter could not do anything and the Haitian artist was declared dead shortly after midnight. Since then, his wife, who is expecting their third child, has spoken through her Instagram account to express her grief.

    many tributes

In addition, the tributes have multiplied since the announcement of his death. Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry tweeted on Sunday: “It is a great reference of Haitian music which has just passed away. The country and the Haitian youth have lost a beautiful soul”. Other artists like Wyclef Jean or Tamara Suffren have also saluted the memory of the artist. And as early as Saturday evening, radio stations and nightclubs in Haiti began playing songs to honor him.

Cardiac arrest: 3 actions to save a life

Practiced from the first moment, three simple gestures offer the victim of cardiac arrest his only chance of survival. The role of the first witness is therefore essential. He must call 15 (SAMU), massage the heart and perform defibrillation using an automated external defibrillator (if a device is available nearby). Training in these simple gestures will allow you to act with composure and with greater speed when necessary.
