There are still stories in gaming that end well. YouTuber ItsColourTV loves Red Dead Redemption 2 and has spent 6,000 hours playing the MMO version, Red Dead Online, of the masterful game. But the surprising end of Google Stadia would have cost him any progress. He just couldn’t get away from the dying platform. But his call for help is finally increased.
This was the story: On October 2nd, we reported on MeinMMO about the YouTuber “ItsColourTV”.
I put €1,000 and all my hopes in Google Stadia -; Now it’s all for naught
This happened afterwards: The story about the YouTuber went around the world.
Many news sites picked up the stories. Every gamer could understand what a difficult situation that was. You know how difficult it is for gamers to say goodbye to their MMOs and “their stuff” they’ve earned.
Rockstar takes heart – Offers free transfers away from Stadia
So now Rockstar saves him: As the YouTuber announced on October 19, things are going well now. Rockstar contacted him and explained:
All Stadia players who would have been playing Red Dead Online 30 days prior to the Stadia end announcement could transfer their money, Gold Bars, XP, Reel XP and Tokens to an existing account – on PC, Xbox One or PS4
What does the player say? He thinks it was mainly due to the amount of attention his story has received from gaming journalists and content creators.
The reporting would have only drawn attention to his case. Thank you for saving an entire community.
This is an example of how a fan campaign that got attention really made a difference. Trying to “save” the entire Red Dead Redemption 2 game, on the other hand, didn’t go so well:
