Where does the information come from? As a basis, we take the tier lists of various experts and pros, such as Flats, one of the best tank players in the world (via YouTube).
In the MeinMMO editorial team, we also have many enthusiastic Overwatch players who have already played the beta and the preliminary test. A large part of the assessment and changes to the template is therefore based on our experience.

Comment: Sojourn and Soldier: 76 undoubtedly have the edge when it comes to damage in Overwatch 2. Plus, they’re easy to play for anyone who’s tried any shooter before. Their gameplay is intuitive.
Winston is a so-called “dive tank” and as such is excellent at disrupting opponents. If you have problems against enemies that are too strong but unreachable, Winston can help with his mobility. But he needs a team to support him.
Sigma and Zarya both have strong ways to protect their team while even increasing their own damage. Your ultimates are among the strongest control abilities in the game and can decide a round on their own. Note, however, that Zarya is set to get a nerf soon.

With Lúcio and Ana as healers, there’s very little that can go wrong. Both have tremendous healing output and are easy to learn. Those who master them can also use their additional abilities to put a lot of pressure on their opponents.
Baptiste is a bit heavier due to his ability to briefly make the whole team immortal, but one of the best supports around.

Comment: Tracer, Genji, and Sombra have the potential to be S-Tier heroes, but are hugely prone to failure. Even if you play them perfectly, a good opponent can quickly knock you out. They are classic high risk/high reward heroes. There are also prospects for nerfs for Genji and Sombra.
Widowmaker has become a major threat on all maps, mainly due to the reduced number of tanks. Reaper and Ashe are solid picks for just about any team composition.

With the tanks you have here with Reinhardt and Orisa pure damage absorbers, where the positioning is important. D.Va has slipped down a bit due to the current strength of Winston and Zarya. It still scores with a lot of damage, but can be countered easily and should also be nerfed.
As a classic healer with strong output and revives, Mercy is always a good choice. Brigitte’s defensive skills have given her a unique role in the 5-man team, but one that needs practice. Zenyatta is more difficult to play, but its influence through the different spheres is enormous and counters most dangerous opponents.
Kiriko has only been playable in ranked games for a few days after the release. Although she is one of the stronger supports, she is also one of the most difficult heroes of all. You will often have to put yourself in dangerous situations to heal perfectly with her, which can often mean your death.

We have upgraded Moira from her originally weaker assessment. She has one of the strongest healing outputs in the game, but many players simply ignore it. If you play them correctly, you can keep your team alive on your own and leave room for an offensive, second support like Zenyatta or Kiriko.

Comment: The problem here with most DPS heroes is that they’re extremely situational or need too much practice to really make an impact. For example, Cassidy can be swapped out for Soldier or Ashe in almost any situation, and Hanzo for Widowmaker. Sombra, Mei, and Echo have such important gameplay nuances that without much practice, you’ll be more likely to lose.
The tanks here are offensively designed tanks that take a lot of practice and can only secondarily fulfill the “tank” role. They are more suitable for sowing chaos.

Comment: All of the characters listed here are strong in theory, but only if the opponents don’t react to you at all. A good Pharah alone is enough to counter most of them.
However, Bastion is currently temporarily completely removed from Overwatch 2 due to a serious bug. We don’t yet know when he will return.
Note that the tier roster is subject to change and you can win with just about any hero and enough practice. If you’re particularly good with a hero, don’t let their rating stop you from playing them. The list serves as a guide and the most important thing is always teamwork and sportsmanship.
