Earlier this week, TV4 Nyheterna reported on the infected school food issue in Lycksele. The new director of nutrition in the municipality wanted more food cooked from scratch and changed the menus. But organic, locally produced and vegetarian did not appeal to the students.
According to SVT Västerbotten kitchen staff have even been subjected to threats and hatred.
– It was at a level that I am surprised by. A very stressful situation for the catering manager and his employees. He therefore saw no other option than to back away from the new direction, says Roland Sjögren (KD), chairman of the municipal board in Lycksele.
Now TV4 Nyheterna can show pictures of some of the dishes that caused such an outcry in the town. A couple of them are taken from an Instagram account created by students at Finnback School.
At the same time, parents of children in the affected schools say that they are not against food cooked from scratch, but that the execution was the problem. They say that food had to be thrown away and that “children went hungry”.
– Maybe we were a little blue-eyed. It went a little too fast, says Roland Sjögren.
