Slide canceling was one of the most talked about features of Call of Duty 2019 and Warzone. For Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, the developers have revised the movement and removed slide canceling from the game. However, after the public beta started, some players found a way to bring back the controversial feature.

What is slide canceling anyway? “Call of Duty” veterans understand slide canceling to be a movement technique that allowed you to go from a tactical sprint to a slide in CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone. The slide is then interrupted and you can continue sprinting immediately.

Although slide-canceling only strings together 3 movement mechanics, the trick brings you two decisive advantages:

  • You move faster across the map because you are constantly moving. Because slide canceling resets your tactical sprint, you can use it more often.
  • You’re harder to hit because your stance is constantly changing as you slide cancel. Your character’s head is never constantly in the same position, making it difficult for your opponents to snipe.

    • However, you need some practice to use the trick successfully. Slide canceling quickly became a meta in Warzone, so casual players in particular quickly felt disadvantaged.

    Is slide canceling possible in MW2?

    The first rumors that slide canceling should be deleted in MW2 have already caused discussions in the community (via reddit.com). While many players welcome the change, there are some players who feel that such things are simply part of Call of Duty.

    The start of the open beta on Friday now further fuels the discussion. It didn’t take long for some players to find a way to use slide cancel in MW2 as well.
