Pien Brussel says that it has not yet been properly investigated whether the donation rings actually lead to less plastic waste on the street. Exact figures about the operation are therefore lacking. But she also says that it seems to be catching on in Germany. “They often hang out near a candy route. Those are places where people consume the most, so at a station, school or park. Hopefully there will be more in the Netherlands soon.”
