Over 10 years after Scream 4, the cult horror series has finally returned to cinemas this year. The new Scream part is of course no ordinary sequel, but a idiosyncratic mix of reboot and sequel.
From now on you can finally stream Scream with a subscription to Sky Ticket aka WOW. * Horror fans are allowed to get the great combination of exciting hardness, successful humor and clever ideas not to be missed.

Scream 5 boasts meta ideas and classic horror suspense
In the fifth part of the series, a new generation of young characters will enter the Series of murders surrounding the notorious Ghostface killer entangled. It all begins when Tara (Jenna Ortega) is attacked, causing her older sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) to return to Woodsboro. The well-known main characters Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) also reappear, of course.
Already the intro sequence as an important hallmark of the Scream saga brings the franchise into the present. This time it’s mostly more demanding films of the “Elevated Horror” movement like It Follows or Der Babadook, which are mentioned by Tara during Ghostface’s telephone terror.
After that, the fifth part itself seems like a rejection of overly intellectual genre representatives, because Scream 5 should be with its pretty violent murder sequences the most violent film in the series to date be. The suspense scenes are nevertheless loosened up with a lot of humor, which means that the tone of the previous scream films is perfectly hit again.
But the smartest thing about Scream 5 is playing with audience expectations. The directing duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin mercilessly reckon with nostalgic transfiguration and shoots specifically against toxic parts of fan bases such as in the case of Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi.
A classic slasher with plenty of suspense and heaviness as well as an intelligent extension of the series’ typical meta ideas, Scream 5 one of the best horror movies of the year.
