It was reported that 24 people were killed in clashes on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, it was stated that 24 corpses were brought to hospitals in the Batken region in the south of the country.
The armed conflict between the guards of the two countries on the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border started this morning.
The parties accused each other of violating the agreements, and it was announced that an agreement was reached on the ceasefire as of 16.00 local time.
About 90 people were injured on the Kyrgyz side in the clashes.
Due to the border dispute between the two countries, tensions are experienced in the region due to reasons such as land, agricultural irrigation, animal grazing, smuggling, common road use and unauthorized crossings from the border.
Kyrgyzstan had closed its customs gates with Tajikistan from May 21, 2021, until the border issue was resolved. (AA)
