Two men who were previously convicted in the district court for having shot dead a man in Gävle are now acquitted by the appeal court. The two men were sentenced in June against their denial to twelve and 14 years in prison, respectively, but the evidence is now rejected in a higher instance.
According to the court, the circumstantial evidence presented is not strong enough and alternative perpetrators cannot be ruled out.
The shooting took place last November. According to the prosecutor, the background to the murder was a conflict between two criminal networks.
