In the World of Warcraft Dragonflight Beta, shamans are just zipping around the game world. A small mistake gives them more than 5000% movement speed.
The WoW: Dragonflight beta has been active for a few weeks and overall everything seems to be going well. The quests are freed from the last mistakes, the talent trees are adjusted and more and more bugs are eliminated. But sometimes a new error creeps in – and leads to absurd results. Shaman are the fastest class currently in World of Warcraft. A “small typo” by a developer is to blame for this.
What happened? When Shaman shift into their Ghost Wolf form, they can benefit from a new talent called Thunderous Paws. The talent is supposed to make the ghost wolf increase its movement speed by 25% for the first 3 seconds.
However, a developer seems to have made a little mistake when entering the values internally, because instead of 25%, the ghost wolf briefly increases the speed by a whopping 5,000%! This means that the shaman can cover gigantic distances within these 3 seconds, for example through half the wasteland.
Various clips of clearly amused shaman players in the WoW subreddit show how crazy that looks.
Here’s how the community is reacting: As you might expect, she’s quite amused. Some of the comments on the subreddit include:
Is that live? No of course not. Such speed is not only absolutely overpowering, but also leads to various bugs in the game. For example, it can happen that textures or objects are not loaded at all as quickly as the character storms through the map.
It’s normal for bugs and errors to occur during a beta – but it’s not that common for them to turn out so strange. Mainly because the beta tests at Blizzard are usually already quite polished.
If you want to get into the beta yourself, we’ll tell you here how you can still register for the test. With a bit of luck you will be there!
