The people of Kharkiv rejoiced at the departure of the Russian soldiers, but at the same time they were worried about the situation of their relatives and friends, says a reporter who arrived in Kharkiv on Wednesday afternoon. Antti Kuronen.

The Ukrainian authorities have already been able to investigate the situation in the occupied territories.

– Graves and various dungeons have been found there, where people have been tortured and kept imprisoned. In the coming days or weeks, it will become clear how bad the situation has been there, says Kuronen.

Apartment buildings cold

Although the fighting is over in Kharkiv, at least for now, the situation for the residents continues to be difficult.

– For example, there are power outages here in the Saltivka district, and what’s worse, the large apartment buildings that are heated with district heating are now completely cold here, says Kuronen.

According to Ukrainian sources, around 150,000 people were freed from the Russian occupation after the turn of last week.
