an agreement with certain groups including Wakit Tama

The group of religious and elders negotiating with the disaffected who boycott the inclusive and sovereign national dialogue announces that they have reached an agreement with some of them. Wakit Tama is one of them, but not The Transformers, nor the politico-military groups that are not signatories to the Doha agreement.

Four organizations are signatories of the text: the June 1 appeal group, Wakit Tama and the two parties The Democrats and a Nation for All. According to the terms of the agreement, the work of the national dialogue must be suspended in order to review the quota of participants.

A transparent process for certifying participants and verifying their mandates is planned. All of this should bring the number of participants with voting rights down to about 800 people.

The agreement also provides for the establishment of a new, more neutral presidium and a consensus committee which will ” intervene whenever consensus is not reached on issues of national importance “.

To enter into force, the text must be ratified by the transitional authorities. This is why the spokesperson for the group of mediators calls on the president of the transition Mahamat Idriss Déby to use his power so that the work of the inclusive national dialogue, supposed to resume Thursday morning, is suspended.
