Elisabeth Borne is to announce this Wednesday afternoon the government’s strategy to deal with the energy crisis in France. Emmanuel Macron spoke on Monday, September 12, during a meeting with the press, of the inevitable price increases for the French this winter.
Electricity bills will gradually increase by 10 to 20% in 2023. And faced with this situation, the French people who have been protected by the tariff shield so far must expect to have to make an effort.
Emmanuel Macron believes that the only thing that public power can do is to smooth the impact for the French to avoid uncontrolled inflation.

Make the ecological transition just
The government will propose, within the framework of the budget which must be presented at the end of September in the Council of Ministers, mechanisms both to help the most modest households with targeted measures but also to support thermal renovation. The objective is to find ways to make the ecological transition just.

The hypothesis of a taxation of superprofits at the national level, demanded by the left opposition, does not seem to be on the agenda. For Emmanuel Macron, this is not the right way to approach the question, the solution must be found at European level by a levy which will be redistributed to the countries. European solidarity is more than ever the Head of State’s angle of attack.
