Armand Duplanti’s big film is about to premiere.
Then he highlights his absolute dream guest.
– It would be an honor, says Mondo.

The film is called “Born to Fly” and has been filmed for many years. In the film, you get to follow Armand Duplanti’s journey from childhood to the absolute top, and it contains loads of material that the world has never seen before. The film could not have had a better dramaturgy either, as Duplantis in recent years has emerged as the absolute best pole vaulter of all time, with several world records.

Revealing the Dream: Stenis

The film will of course be seen by scores of Swedes and international athletics lovers, and soon a gala premiere awaits here in Sweden. Before it, Armand Duplantis has filed on the guest list, and of course it’s a solid job just that. But one thing was absolutely obvious to the superstar. A famous name too given for him to invite.

He believes that the absolute dream guest that he wants to come to the premiere is the alpine legend Ingemar Stenmark.

– I didn’t know he was such a big fan and that he likes pole vaulting. For me, it feels like a great honor that he likes what I do, says Duplantis to Aftonbladet.

“One of the biggest”

Armand Duplantis was mostly raised in the USA, and was born many years after Ingemar Stenmark dominated the alpine world. But that doesn’t stop Mondo from looking up to Stenmark.

– Even though he belonged to a different generation and there wasn’t much skiing where I grew up. But I heard about him all the time, both from mother and grandfather. So I know that he is one of the greatest of all time in Sweden, says Ondo.

Ingemar Stenmark himself, earlier in the autumn, paid tribute to Duplantis and said that he was starstruck when he saw him in Stockholm. Stenmark thought then that Duplantis had no idea who he was, but then he was wrong.

– Everyone knows who Stenmark is, says Duplantis, and continues:

– And now I know how much he likes pole vaulting. It just feels big.
