UK inflation remains high in August but under

(Finance) – UK inflation remains high in August. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) monthly report, consumer prices mark one 9.9% growth on an annual basis, compared to + 10.2% expected and the previous + 10.1%.

On a monthly basis inflation registered a 0.5% increase, slightly lower than the + 0.6% of the previous and expected month.

The core inflation datawhich excludes the most volatile components such as food and fuels, accelerates to + 6.3% in line with expectations, from 6.2% the previous month. On a monthly basis you register a + 0.8%, like the consensus, compared to the previous + 0.3%.

Instead, producer prices are holding back. According to the British statistical office the producer price index (output) is dropped by 0.1% on a monthly basissurprising market expectations (+ 0.9%) and below the previous month’s figure (+ 1.6%). On an annual basisone registered positive change of 16.1%, against the + 17.1% of the previous month and the + 17.5% expected by the market.

The core indexexcluding food, beverages, tobacco and oil, rose 0.3% over the month, after + 0.8% in July e on an annual basis of 13.7% from the previous + 14.4%.
