The Parcoursup platform, known to high school students and young graduates, closes this Friday, September 16. This is therefore the last moment to finalize the complementary phase and find training for the start of the 2022 school year. What are your options? We take stock.
The complementary phase of Parcoursup is about to end. It will end precisely on Friday, September 16. Concretely, this means that there are only a few days left to finalize the procedure for assignment to higher education for the start of the 2022 school year. After which the Parcoursup platform will no longer be accessible to young graduates until next year. For students without training, this week is therefore decisive. If you want to start your higher education and find a university or school ready to welcome you, now is the time to make your wishes.
What is the complementary phase?
The complementary phase started on June 23 and ends on September 16, 2022. Students who have only obtained negative answers or who have failed to enroll can apply for courses that still offer places, with the same rules as the previous procedure, but in an accelerated manner. Since July 1, in each academy, a commission for access to higher education (CAES) led by the rector examines the situation of candidates who have not received an admission offer in order to offer them other training close to their initial choices.
If you are one of those who received only negative responses, be sure to complete the “Preference and other projects” by widening your orientation wishes as much as possible in order to help the commission. It will study your file and may rely on the information you have provided in this section. Specifically, here are the options open to you:
Formulate your wishes among 10,000 training courses still open
Before the 2022 edition of Parcoursup ends, it is quite possible for a young bachelor to register on the platform until Wednesday, September 14 inclusive, to create an account (with a valid e-mail address and the student’s INE number) then to express their wishes. Currently, on the map training available in the complementary phase, more than 10,000 courses still offer places everywhere in France, whether in public schools, private establishments under contract or not, and schools in higher education. To know that you can formulate up to ten wishes and submit your applications before 14 September.
If you do it in time, you should normally receive a response from the establishment within two days. The last proposals will therefore be sent to the candidates on September 16th.
Find work-study training
It is also the last straight line for graduates who wish to pursue work-study training. You have until September 14, to find an apprenticeship, make your choices and submit your wishes on Parcoursup. As with the other courses, you can make up to 10 wishes.
Find training outside of Parcoursup
If you don’t want to use the Parcoursup platform, don’t panic. You can very well go to other schools, mostly private, which offer multiple training courses (BTS, prepas, bachelor’s etc.) and organize their own registrations. There are many sectors. This is the case of business schools, engineering schools, art schools, schools specializing in real estate or IT and even certain selective licenses. Check on the Internet or directly with these establishments to find out if there are still places available to register.
90% of baccalaureate holders received at least one admission proposal
As a reminder, this year, the main phase of Parcoursup ended on July 15, 2022. On this date, nearly 562,674 baccalaureate holders had received at least one admission proposal, i.e. 90.4% of them, a rate nearly 1 point higher than last year. More than 9 out of 10 high school students had thus obtained an answer to their wishes to pursue higher education. As for students in reorientation, 79% have received at least one admission proposal, i.e. 2 additional points compared to 2021.
Note that you may receive one or more admission proposals, at the same time or on different dates, but that you can only accept one at a time. You may receive 4 types of training responses:
- A “Yes” which corresponds to a proposal for admission. You will then only have to validate this choice while waiting a few hours, because at the very beginning of the admission phase, the Parcoursup platform will be in “consultation” mode only.
- A “If yes (for a license wish)” which corresponds to an admission proposal accompanied, if you accept it, by a support system to strengthen your skills
- A “in waiting list” which means that you are on the waiting list which evolves according to the places that become available. This is the most frequent situation for the majority of candidates on Parcoursup on the first day of the results. If you are in this case, check your place in the waiting list by comparing it with that of the last admitted or the last admitted in 2021: if you are at the top of this list, you should receive an admission offer a few days later after the withdrawal of other candidates ranked higher than you. On the other hand, if you are in the middle or even at the bottom of this waiting list, do not get your hopes up too high and consider accepting an admission offer on another wish – if you have any. If you are on the waiting list for all your wishes, do not panic and give yourself a few days to check how your ranking is changing over the withdrawals of other candidates.
- A “Nope (only for a wish in selective training)” which means that the committee for examining the wishes of the training has not retained your file. You must then wait for the additional phase of Parcoursup which begins on Thursday, June 23
You have a few days to definitively validate your admission in the event of a positive response. If you only get negative responses from selective training (BTS, BUT, IFSI, etc.), you can ask for support in your establishment or at the Information and Orientation Center (CIO) to prepare for the phase. additoinal.
