In the 80s, later Spider-Man director Sam Raimi became the Evil Dead series wacky cult horror. While the series developed into a shrill comedy at the latest with the medieval time travel spectacle Army of Darkness, the franchise was restarted around 20 years later with Evil Dead.

Fede Alvarez’s 2013 film, The tonight at 12:30 a.m. on Nitro runs, has no spark of humor and relies more on horror, which at the latest in the finale becomes as bloody as seldom. In Germany, the uncensored version of the film may not even be shown.

Evil Dead turns hard drug rehab into a demonic nightmare

In the Evil Dead reboot, the director once again sends four young adults to a cabin in the woods. The reason is a lot darker this time compared to the original, because this time it’s about Mia (Jane Levy) uniting as part of the group cold drug withdrawal should pull through. Her friends want to help her.

Of course, it doesn’t take long before the strange book called Necronomicon, which is used to unleash demonic powers, appears here again. They take possession of the bodies of the characters again, which, in addition to the creepy make-up effects of the transformed, above all ultra brutal terror scenes leads.

What is being done here, for example, with an electric carving knife or a nail gun, is so violent that indexed the uncensored version of Evil Dead in Germany and may no longer be broadcast or sold. When the shortened FSK 18 version is broadcast, a good minute is missing.

This Evil Dead reaches its peak of horror in the finale, when director Fede Alvarez says he hits 50,000 gallons (equivalent to approx. 190,000 liters) fake blood lets rain.

A literal bloodbath that the Evil Dead reboot along with the shocking spikes in violence and the themes of excruciating drug withdrawal one of the most impressive horror remakes of recent history power. Best of all, of course, in the uncut version.
