The novel The tumult, by Sélim Nassib (Éditions de l’Olivier), tells the story of Youssef, a teenager who grew up in Beirut in a Jewish family. It is also the alter-ego of the author who now lives in Paris and who covered for the daily Release the war in Lebanon. He leaves in his book of his family to tell his country of birth, its multiple dramas, the war, but also the sweetness of living there despite everything. A country of contradictions that the novelist highlights with talent.
