Three changes Ulf Kristersson and the Moderates make directly in

Ulf Kristersson (M) looks set to become Sweden’s next prime minister.

Here are the changes that await immediately upon a change of power, according to experts.

– There are things they are very much in agreement about, says political scientist Peter Esaiasson.

Ulf Kristersson’s right-wing coalition leads on Monday with a mandate against Magdalena Andersson’s right-wing bloc when 95 percent of the votes have been counted.

If the M leader takes over the post as the next prime minister, a series of changes await, according to political scientists Sofie Blombäck and Peter Esaiasson.

– Changes will be made to the energy policy where, among other things, they have promised to lower electricity bills very quickly. It’s also not something the other parties will argue about that much, says Sofie Blombäck, political scientist at Mittuniversitetet.

Peter Esaiasson at the University of Gothenburg also highlights the expansion of nuclear power and measures against crime as priority areas.

– The moderates have said a number of times that they will start with nuclear power. It is also an issue they agree on with the other parties, he says and continues:

– New legislation against gang crime is another thing that they are guaranteed to start immediately, he says.

“A lot of disagreements”

Other issues may be more difficult to agree on, according to the political scientists.

– In economic policy, there are a lot of disagreements. If the Moderates are elected, there will be tax cuts. They pushed for that quite hard in the election campaign, but it’s not something they will get through on their own, says Sofie Blombäck.

The issue of integration will also become a hot topic of discussion within the right-wing coalition, Blombäck believes.

– It is SD’s absolute heart issue, they will want austerity, but the thing is that Sweden has already tightened a lot when it comes to, for example, asylum immigration.

– It therefore appears to be about integration instead of migration, but even here you have slightly different views on things. There has previously been talk of both language tests and ADHD screening of children.

Also requirements from KD and L

However, much still depends on what a possible government will look like.

– If Kristersson becomes prime minister, it will either be with SD in government or by him buying SD’s support rather expensively. They will want a lot of politics in return, especially when they look like they will become the bigger party, says Sofia Blombäck and adds:

– Then the liberals will want something about the school and KD something about healthcare. Exactly what it will be is hard to say, but they will try.
