Manse PP failed to tie the men’s Superpesis final match series on their home field, so Vimpelin Vedo has a good chance to win gold next Saturday.
Vimpelin Veto defeated Tampere’s Manse PP 2–0 (3–0, 4–2) in the second final match of the men’s Superpesis on Sunday, and thus the championship is on hold for it next Saturday at Vimpelin’s Saarikenta.
Manse PP had only one good phase in the match, when it equalized in the opening inning of the second period to make it 2-2 Henri Puput with a punch and Veto’s stray throw.
Bet game manager Tomi Niskanen immediately took overtime.
– I didn’t say anything special about it. The goal was just to break Mansen’s charm and we succeeded in that, Niskanen said.
Veto clearly dominated both periods and won the three-point situations 14–6. The readings of the opening period were crushing 9–2.
– The pennant clearly improved us more than yesterday (Saturday). We didn’t feel fresh in the game, the game became crowded, admitted Mansen’s game manager Juhani Lehtimäki.
“Must enjoy”
At the beginning, Veto seemed more ready to play at the top level. Especially in the outdoor game, it was clearly better, and the shots in the indoor game were also of better quality. Veto got the first run Juuso Myllyniemi as a result of a stray throw, the other was hit by a player playing the first finals of his life Jukka-Pekka Vainionpää. Vainionpää brought the third Juho Heikkalan while hitting.
– This season I have both hit and scored a run in a few matches, Vainionpää said.
Vainionpää enjoyed himself in the middle of an audience of almost three thousand. A couple of hundred of the spectators were from Vimpel.
– You have to enjoy these games, and with this win we got a good starting point for next Saturday. It was a pleasure to watch our away game from the side of the field, it was the best performance of the season, Vainionpää rejoiced.
Manse became the chaser right at the beginning of the second period, when Mikko Vihriälä hit the first home run of his career with the first hit of the period. After Jere Oukko pierced Mansen’s outfield from the second side, and Vihriälä brought in the 0–2 run.
– We will be able to improve the inside game even here, Niskanen promised.
