The party of former Central African President François Bozizé, the Kwa Na Kwa, announced this Sunday the death of its secretary general Jean-Eudes Teya, following cancer, in Belgium, where his family had resided for a long time. Former minister of André Kolingba and François Bozizé, and former commissioner for CEMAC, he had held this position since July 2020, within a party that had become moribund.

If the personality of Jean-Eudes Teya, a physicist, “ brilliant and cultured technocrat “, was the subject of positive comments from many Central African political figures this Sunday, several regretted his ” anti-democratic last choice », that of following François Bozizé out of loyalty in the CPC adventurethe Coalition of Patriots for Change.
After the military defeat of the latter in January 2021, Jean-Eudes Teya returned to Belgium, from where he ensured the daily management of the training which he had co-founded in 2004, under the name of National Convergence-Kwa Na Kwa .
Today, the KNK is a dormant formation in Bangui, its headquarters have been vandalized, its militants are keeping a low profile. Most of the executives who did not join Faustin-Archange Touadéra, himself former number 2 in the party, when he came to power, are now in exile or have joined other opposition parties.
François Bozizé has been in Ndjamena since the end of June 2021, as part of the mediation led by Angola and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region. Targeted by lawsuits in the Central African Republic, he remains discreet, even if he asked last June a ” transition without Touadera ».
