The preliminary statistics show that 7,712,104 people are eligible to vote in the elections to the Riksdag this year, according to The electoral authority.
Head of the Electoral Authority Anna Nyqvist tells Expressen that the authority expects delayed vote counting due to the long queues that have been at the polling stations around the country.
– We expect that there will be queues and a lot of people until the polling stations close at 8 p.m., says Anna Nyqvist to the newspaper.
– My assessment is that the vote counting tonight will begin a little later.
Anna Nyqvist believes that the possible delay and the long queues are not the responsibility of the Elections Authority. The delay instead has to do with the new system where the ballots are in special booths, which slows down the pace.
