Intrigue in the world of publishing, we found the microfilm of a novel by Claude McKay, writer of the Harlem Renaissance movement and author of Banjo. The text will eventually be published in 2021 in France. In Romance in Marseilles, written in 1933, Claude McKay documents the life of African sailors and dockers in the interwar period. Although their “reserved” neighborhood was destroyed in 1943, the lives of black workers left literary and musical traces, but also memorials among Afro-descendants from Marseille.
An atmospheric report by Daphné Gastaldi.
