It didn’t end well for Ben Pon, it was his debut in Formula 1, spurred on by Godin de Beaufort. Pon also drove a Porsche, the brand that he himself imported into the Netherlands. He crashed on the second lap in the ‘Scheivlak’ corner, was thrown from his car and ended up in the bushes. Pon survived the accident, but would never get into a Formula 1 car again after that.
