[Mis à jour le 09 septembre 2022 à 12h06] “I will miss her very much.” A few minutes after the death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, Thursday, September 8, 2022, Elton John paid tribute to him in a message posted on his social networks. “Like the whole country, I am very saddened to hear the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth”, begins the singer. “She was an inspiring presence and guided the country through some of its strongest and darkest times with grace, decency and a rare empathy,” continues Elton John.
And to conclude: “Queen Elizabeth has occupied a very important place in my life since my childhood, and I will miss her very much.” A few hours later, in concert in Toronto, the artist also saluted the memory of the queen. “Today we received the saddest news. She was an inspiring presence to be around. I have been around her and she was fantastic (…) I am very sad that she is no longer with me but I am happy that she is at peace, I am happy that she is at rest”, he added, before interpreting his song Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
